Update on Planet Operations During COVID-19 Events
As many are aware, Planet is headquartered in San Francisco, where shelter-in-place orders were issued on Monday to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19. As per the order, San Francisco residents have been ordered to stay in their homes until further notice.
While Planet is complying with guidance to prioritize the safety of its employees, company operations are continuing. Staff members are working from home in full force, including the operational teams needed to maintain stable satellite operations. All spacecraft management systems are designed to be operated remotely, so our ability to provide imagery products and services to our customers will continue without interruption.
We are implementing mitigation plans for any challenges that may arise in manufacturing or from delays in satellite launches, and are fully prepared to continue business despite economic impacts that may occur as a result of COVID-19. We will keep our customers and partners notified of any changes as the situation evolves.
As rapid change occurs in our world, forcing many of us to maintain social distance for safety, we believe Earth observation data can be helpful in these unprecedented times. Global satellite data collection can provide a safer, scalable alternative to other methods of information gathering, potentially making it a critical component to an organization’s business continuity plans. The world needs transparency and reliable information more than ever today, and we are well positioned and ready to provide critical global data to facilitate that.
As this situation develops, we are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of our employees and to address the needs of our customers and partners.
