Four new mosaics for California
We are excited to release four California mosaics on the Planet Platform Beta, composited fully from our recently released Open California dataset. This means the mosaics themselves are also available under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.
Easily search a mosaic, browse tiles and metadata
All four mosaics are accessible through the API and Mosaics Explorer Web Application. They can be downloaded as ‘quads’ for use offline and as a globally cached tile server. See the mosaics tiles section of the developer docs for more information.

- Open California: PlanetScope + RapidEye Hybrid Mosaic provides full coverage of California;
- Open California: PlanetScope Mosaic includes scenes from only PlanetScope from over the last two months. Coverage will expand over the next several months as we collect more data;
- Open California: RapidEye California Mosaic (Summer) covers the entire state and is constructed with only RapidEye imagery. The majority of these scenes in this mosaic were captured in the 2014 and 2015 summer months;
- Global Landsat 8 Mosaic is created from Landsat 8 images and covers the whole world. It is available to all users.
